Happy makes me late.

After Ted, Camille, Drake, and I met with Mr. Mrozek about our Senior Dinner speech (hour total:14) yet again, Happy and I hustled over to Camille and MacKenzie's lovely luncheon at the Arboretum in the pouring rain. Apparently Happy never drives in the rain. Don't ask me why she volunteered to drive. We ended up missing the turn (which is the same route she took to Cross Country practice for the past four years..) and went on a twenty minute detour. It was ok because Mrs. Carlock was sending encouraging texts the whole way. After the totes fab bash, we re-met with Mark Mro but not before some naptime at the Skochdopole's. Later, our class raved with Jessie, Erica, and Sasha. And the Mavs won in overtime. Solid.

To followers

Who are disappointed in non-thorough updates, I am sorry. I so appreciate that care enough to check this! Please believe I'm doing as much as I can everyday. (writing this as I drive, stopping for safety reasons)

Maracas & New Cars

Ellie clearly had a fabulous day today. It was the pinnacle of our self-defense class, so she got jumped by a huge martial artist man in a padded suit, got a new car (check out Lizzie!), discovered her new favorite cupcake (Peanut Butter Chip!), and wore this moustache at The Clan's Grad Party at El Fenix. And I had just as fabulous of a day. Minus the new car.

Today, I slept in for the first time in a week. It was pleasant. Sorry that I couldn't take a photo.

The Meyerson

It will be so weird to see people in these seats! At Grad Rehearsal, we resisted the urge to touch the tympanis which were on stage.. Then Ellie enjoyed the first hours of her working life! Grant pretended he liked frozen yogurt, but really he was there for assassins.. I also helped Sarah hang this montage of photos of herself. B was so proud. Later, we bowled under phonetic guises thanks to Haley. Loved the peace out ESD cookies, btw. Oh, and today I died. Word to the wise: never trust Matthew Porter, Caroline Sikes, or Happy Carlock. At least Mr. Gurnis pitied me over bagels..

The Dalai Lama, cycles, and car paint.

I can't believe I met the Dalai Lama today! (This is not my pic- taken from SMU website) It was SO cool to find out how funny and down to earth and like us he was. And his opinions, sprinkled with some humor, about democracy, religion, government, humanity, his life, and our generation. It would be unfair to try and rephrase everything he said. Feel free to ask me in person. But as an example, in the picture he is wearing an SMU hat. He arrived onstage in his sweet lama garb, walks across stage, and whips out the hat. This is him waving at the students. How cool?? One of the most interesting (and by one of, it is one of a lot, as you can imagine, he is full of quotable lines) things he said was when he was asked about being found to be the next reincarnation of the Dalai Lama and he somewhat jokingly said he might have just had good luck choosing the right article (possession of the last Dalai Lama) as an infant. Here is the leader of Tibetan Buddhism humorizing one of their intrinsic beliefs! This just goes to show that he is not a forcer of religion onto others, but as a pious and devout man ("simple monk" in his words) is able to confidently relate to us and always remain compassionate, loving, and a proponent of world peace, the values he told us a little bit about. Anyway, I don't want to try summarize everything about His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama (his official title), and much less publish opinions on something I am not nearly qualified to publish opinions on, but the experience was very cool.

This morning began the Seniors last week, and we painted cars, just like the first week. I spread some shmear on mah bagel, just like yellow and blue day. . This morning I rolled into the parking lot listening to Over My Head by The Fray of course (btw Hannah Smith loves those guys), and left at 4:45 finishing the song. It was totes cyclical. (Even the bagel was circular, eh?) His Holiness is by default a believer in time as a cycle (but he also was a proponent of progession (a linear concept) of our generation), and today was in the spirit of that. Mr. Eason was right about that cycle! And while I still can (even though I had to clean it off my car), SKA.

Mother's Day!

For Mother's Day, just as every year, we attended the Rangers game, Genie's fave activity. (Shoutout to the Pucketts who also enjoy an outing in Arlington). We lost, but were winning until about the 6th inning. This guy had this fab flag which was hard to get a pic of.. but it's the Come and Take It flag with the the American League champions symbol on it. So clev.

Pierced/Coffee'd

Today I became a little more holey by finally getting my ears pierced! Murphy also had yet to undergo the bejeweling (as the lady at La Lobe would say). We like to undergo major milestones together. Then we jaunted to coffeehouse and helped prepare some food before the big night! Weston did a fabulous job dare I say reinventing the feel of it. It was really cool. Plus, the films were great! I like them all, but a couple faves were Wellington Scott Waller's comparison of ESD to communist Russia (love that the Lab-ster participated) and Nate and Henry's Lutken dedication with their Roger Bannister expose. Great for the second year in a row!! Afterward we enjoyed some late night pancakes. Nom.

10 hours with Janis. And a few with my softball team!

Today was the day of the AP Art exam, so I spent all day getting my stuff together and finishing up things for the end of the year! Probs my last block of quality time with Janis! At the end if the day, she actually said I could call her Janis now. And gave me some advice. I told her we already called her Janis behind her back.. thought it was appropriate. I attended chapel, and the Randall advisory owned it with a Britanified rap, a Butler+Lutken collab, and a performance of Closing Time. Then we had our end of year softball party! Sheila and some ants made an appearance (and Mark Narvaez!) loved y'all's letters and the video! I will miss y'all next year! Heart.

Look who I found!

In one of my better photographs, Sarah popped up today while I was doing my make-up physics lab from SPC. Aka watching a pendulum swing back and forth. It was lovely; I received a gnome. Later I attended a dinner with namely Nate, Ms. Mayo, Coach T, and Randy from captains class! Even more lovely. And talk about chapel talks, we had literally the best one ever today from Donavan ____, a Cistercian grad/soldier. I'm ok with being upstaged.

Chapel Talk: check.

Today I finally gave a chapel talk that I've been pondering for a few months. Although when I gave a modified version to middle school, there was no response, I was glad to have some audience support during high school chapel (note on that-- they play the same hymns during both services, aka Fr. Butler and Joe have deja vu everyday but pretend not to.. 2 eprops for them). Although I thought it inappropriate to whip out my phone during chapel, this a picture of Shannon super excited about her shoutout and for getting the golf MVP!! Congrats Shannon! *knucks* In Transformations, we had a nature experience when we ran into this horned frog! Ryan made a new friend. And, after school we had a little Coffeehouse practice. Meaning I got to see/hold/read from 2011 Itinerary!! I could not post a pic of it. It's that secret. For Weston: Coffeehouse is Saturday at 7!!

Weapons..

Some boys made some intense weaponry to share today for their physics projects. It was intense. I'm glad I didn't get shot by the L.A.B.A. (longrange assault blowgun apparatus). Today was also Senior Statement chapel and the day I finished all of the images for my AP Concentration!! I could theoretically never pick up a camera again! But that will not happen, just to clarify. It's nice to have the option though. Maybe one of these days I'll get home before 6:30.. looking forward to not having practice/photography practice (?) after school anymore!

Pass It On??

Did I legit just pass it on today? Yep, I teared up (and recorded) the seniors singing "friends are friends forever..", watched Mr. Eason cry about how much he'll miss us, lit the candle of a rising freshman, and shouted the PRAISE GOD part of the song with Elise from the track. It was an overall success. Above is the sneakpeak Becca showed us of their sheet music while we were in Da Ox. For those of us unsure about how the ceremony would go in the new gym, it actually turned out well because the blacked-out the windows, and because it was a particularly rainy, record-low breaking day (see Mandy), there wasn't too much light going on. As promised, I've become into selfies. I picked my fave from the day when Mrs. Ferris had pinkeye (but no eyepatch) and missed statistics. Good times.

Infinite Selfies.

I have a selfie to go right here, because my new phone has a front-facing camera! I haven't figured out how to connect my email back though.. I'm trying. Today I sync'd my phone, attended Youth Sunday and got recognized at church for being a Sen11or, wrote some wisdom on the wall, and completed my Physics project. And May 2011, the bubble I have penciled in for many years, is finally here. Oh, and Osama Bin Laden died. There was a lot of American support going down. It was a big, busy day.
